No Sith Yet...

That's right. Revenge of the Sith has been in theaters since 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning, and I still haven't seen it.

Hell, I haven't seen Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy yet, either.

Those of you who know me (and is there anyone else reading this blog?) will know that this is a sign of something. The new/final Star Wars movie has been out for four days and the Hitchhiker's movie for... awww, weeks now, and I've not seen either one. That's how down I am.

And the few reviews I've run across are saying Sith is pretty good...

if it makes you feel any better (it probably won't), i saw both HHG and EP III. both were a letdown, but not completely since i expected to be let down.

without spoilers, Lucas simply cannot direct actors, or allow them to act. what a sinful waste of talent: Jackson, McGregor, et al. people we KNOW can turn in amazine performances are made of cardboard in this digital gee-whiz fest.

awful dialogue (again), inconsistencies from previous episodes, more lack of emotion & characters you just can't care about. i'm sorry, but the magic was gone when the last Ewok sang in 1983. my wife absolutely HATED it, while i merely said, "meh."

fetid photons, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and War of the Worlds are coming out soon. at least Spielberg can still direct, and Depp does not disappoint.

To prime myself for EpIII I got ahold of DVDs of EpI & EpII. Phantom Menace is every bit as bad as I remember it being. Haven't had time to watch Clones again. In any case, I figure if I'm going to see EpIII eventually I ought to see it on a big screen.

I kinda feel the same about HHG, although to a lesser degree.

Cruise vs Martians should be an entertaining ride. I'm also curious about Fantastic Four, though it's not an interest I can defend.

The more I see of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the less I know what to think...

Hey, don't forget Batman Begins!

And I'm definitely there for the FF movie, just to see Vic Mackey do some clobberin'.

I'm a little nervous about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You're right- Depp does not disappoint, but I'm afraid it'll just scream "Tim Burton" and whisper "Roald Dahl." Plus, like everyone else our age, I have a soft spot for the Gene Wilder version.

War of the Worlds will probably be the movie-to-get-a-babysitter-for of the summer. Waitin' for the reviews.

I read a scene from Batman Begins in this month's Creative Screenwriting magazine. It's cracklin' good! There's a good interview with screenwriter David Goyer, too.

FWIW, I enjoyed HHGG, but that puts me in a happy minority. We probably won't bother with EpIII. We didn't see Clones because we were so scarred by Menace. The only thing that would get me to see a new SW film at this point would be the promise (in writing) of a Jar Jar torture/slaughter scene.
